Final Phase of Basketball Court

Preparing to cut the cement pad.

$500 for someone else to come and cut it........

OR
Do-it-yourself: renting a cement cutter for 2 hours cost = $90.

Basketball Court Phase 2

Phase 2 was preparing for the cement. A lot of gravel, a lot of shoveling, a lot of smoothing out the gravel.........
Phase 3 was the actual pouring of the cement. Which I did not capture on film, but it was quite a day! The rain kept teasing us, but we persevered, and it was fine. We were a little worried at 10:00 that night, but all went well, and NO RAIN on our new cement pad.

Basketball Court Phase 1

Talk about a lot of work! We rented a sod cutter and tore up a nice section in our back yard for the court. The kids had fun (?) helping roll it up. We filled in some areas in our yard with some of the sod, and then took a bunch to my mom's.

Fast Fingers?

I've been trying to work on my typing skills to help keep up with technology. I also thought that it might help me with my piano playing skills (if nothing else it's fun to try to do better each time I take this "test.") look for the white rectangular box that says......"I type___words per minute."

What a day! On May 17, we had a somewhat of an "unlucky" Saturday. Around 9:45 A.M. Daddy,"Bug," and preschool graduate got home from the Father and Sons camp out and "Bug" was standing by the door. He got stung by some sort of a bee/hornet twice. He wasn't thrilled about that. Then, around 11:00 A.M. the "blue blurr" ended up on the ground one too many times at her soccer game. She was not happy about that and decided to call it a day! Kevin, Big D, preschool graduate went to help cut down some trees at a cemetary. And the next thing I know, I get a call from Kevin asking when preschool graduate had had his tetanus shot. He had stepped on a nail and it went through his shoe. Luckily, he had had his shot just six months earlier. Within about an hour, I get another phone call, "We're heading to the Emergency Room." me: "What happened now?" K: "Big D was helping with the trees, and a stick went through his leg and I can see the bone." me: "I'll be there as soon as I can." Lidocaine, Iodine, and twelve stitches later......but no tears from this tough eleven year old! We're on our way back to Grandma's house. I am sewing some pillows for the 4th graders, and sew my finger. Not too much blood, but didn't feel too great either. We get home, and decide we all better call it a day before something else happens. We get the kids to bed, and I'm helping Kevin open the gate to get the truck in the backyard to unload the wood. I slammed my thumb in the gate and the pain shoots up my hand. Okay.......that does it! I'm going to bed! I guess I have to remember.......
It could have been WORSE!

Waiting..........

This picture was taken on Sunday, January 13. The Dr. says we might be having this baby as early as January 24, but we'll have to "wait and see" how things are progressing. In the mean time, we're just waiting...........
